It never translates behind your back
Many dictation tools pick one language and force everything into it, or quietly translate. Lafza keeps “الـ meeting صار بكرا” exactly as you said it. The clean-up pass tidies fillers and punctuation, and if it ever changes the language of what you said, Lafza drops that change and keeps your words.
Right-to-left, done properly
- Arabic mixed with English words and numbers goes in as plain text, and your app shows it like anything you type.
- The mic moves to the correct side of the cursor, so it never sits on your words.
- No hidden direction marks are added to your text.
Which languages
The speech service you choose does the hearing. Services built on Whisper, like Groq’s free plan, handle around a hundred languages and can detect the language by themselves. Lafza is built and tested with Arabic, Spanish and English in mind, including speech that mixes them.
Voice notes in any language
A WhatsApp voice message in Spanish reads as Spanish, whatever you usually dictate in: the language is heard from the audio itself.
Questions
Does it work with Arabic dialects?
It depends on the speech service. Whisper-based services handle Modern Standard Arabic best and many dialects reasonably well. Try your own voice with the free Groq plan.
Do I have to choose a language first?
No. Leave it on automatic and the speech service detects it. You can set one in Settings if you always speak the same language.
