Get Lafza

Read that voice note instead of listening to it.

Drop a WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal voice message on Lafza’s mic. The text grows as it’s heard, in whatever language was spoken.

Free. No account to create. Your words stay yours.

Three ways in

  1. Share it. On Windows, pick Lafza in the Share window from WhatsApp Desktop. On a Mac, pick it from the Share menu of apps that offer the audio file.
  2. Drop it. Drag the audio file onto the mic. On a Mac, WhatsApp only offers its own Forward, so save the voice message first: right-click, Save as.
  3. Right-click it. In Explorer, “Transcribe with Lafza”. In Finder, Services or Open With.

Not a bot

You don’t forward anything to a phone number and no server of ours receives your messages. The audio goes from your computer to the speech service you chose, under your own key. The text shows up in a panel by the mic; copy it, insert it at the cursor, or close it.

What it reads

Ogg Opus (WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal), plus m4a, mp3, wav, aac, 3gp and flac, up to 30 minutes. The language is heard from the audio itself, so a note in Spanish reads as Spanish whatever you dictate in. It’s someone else’s speech, so the words are never polished or changed.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes, voice notes are in the free version. Your speech service may charge by use; Groq has a free plan.

Does the sender find out?

No. It’s a file on your computer, and nothing is sent back to the chat.

Give your keyboard the afternoon off.
